A year ago I visited a long time photographer friend of mine, Roberto Aguilar @photoaguilar, in London to experience first hand the unique and detailed process of platinum palladium printing. I joined him in his lab @rjprintlab and observed him over a couple of days as he printed two of my photographs using this intricate technique. These prints are very special because platinum and palladium are noble metals and are resistant to oxidation – meaning that they have the ability to last forever. In this interview, Roberto explains his passion for this one-of-a-kind printing process.
A few weeks ago I had the honor of meeting two young ladies in Patzun, Guatemala who’ve been running a dog rescue organization, Huellitas de Esperanza (Paw Prints of Hope) on their own for the last year. Katerin and Astrid have saved over 35 dogs so far through their efforts and the donations they’ve received from people, but they need help in order to continue this selfless labor of love. We estimate their yearly costs for the rental of the rescue place, food, medicine and spaying/neutering runs about $10,000 to $15,000 a year. The work they’re doing is truly inspirational. I hope you can find it in your hearts to donate if you can. Every dollar will go towards saving another dog in 2020!
