After photographing Serena Burdick for a portrait session, I became intrigued by the story behind her upcoming novel, "A Promise to Arlette". During our shoot, she mentioned that the book was inspired by a Man Ray photograph of her grandmother — a detail that immediately sparked my curiosity. Pianist Maki Namekawa

I’ve always found inspiration in art, film, and music. I’ve listened to Philip Glass’s compositions performed by the incredible pianist Maki Namekawa for years. Last year, I finally had the chance to see her live in NYC, playing a mesmerizing double piano recital with her husband, Dennis Russell Davies—and it completely blew me away.

Having Maki in the studio for a portrait session was an absolute privilege. Not only is she a phenomenal artist, but her warmth, humility, and effortless presence made the experience even more special. I am grateful for the opportunity to capture her essence through my lens.
